The Ultimate Holiday Entertaining At Home Guide
Happy Holidays from Statement Home!
"There's just too many good holiday finds here...that's it I'm making a holiday TJ's guide!" - our founder Abby while walking the aisles at Trader Joe's a few weeks ago.
We hope this guide helps you create delicious & festive statement-worthy moments at home this holiday season. From charcuterie, to cocktails, to dessert and appetizers, our recipes are straightforward, uncomplicated, but oh so festive.
Under each recipe, you'll find a list of all of the ingredients used as they're named at TJ's for easy shopping.
CHEESE & CHARCUTERIE
Kicking things off with our always favorite, charcuterie boards.
"Buon Natale" Charctuerie
Trust on on this one. Yes it's gorgeous...and the red & green color scheme comes natural with Italian foods...but it's really all about the flavor combos.
Our go-to: garlic cheese bread stick dipped in the Sweet & Savory Tomato Jelly topped with salami and a marinated mozzarella ball. A close second is a parmesan crisp dipped in pesto with a hunk of Italian truffle cheese.
Cheeses: Asiago with Rosemary & Olive Oil, Italian Truffle Cheese, Fontina, Marinated Mozzarella Balls
Breads & Crackers: Parmesan Crisps, Garlic Cheese Breadsticks (cut into small pieces), Cranberry Pistachio biscotti
Meats: Proscuitto, Uncured Three Pepper Salami
Nuts, fruits, veggies: pistachios, truffle Marcona almonds, red grapes, Italian Nocellara olives, fresh red bell pepper (cut into slices)
Dips: Pesto Sauce (found in fresh section), Sweet & Savory Tomato Spread
Garnish: Fresh rosemary
Sweet & Savory Holiday Charcuterie
Festive in look and flavor.
Decor hack: decorate your serving space with "edible decor" aka holiday treats. TJ's raspeberry jam star cookies are perfect for this. Instead of cleaning up and storing decor, you can actually enjoy it as a treat. Now that's making a statement.
Cheeses: Cranberry Goat Cheese, Carmelized Onion Cheddar, Garlic & Fine Herbs Boursin, Cranberry Stilton
Breads & Crackers: Assorted crackers, Cranberry Pistachio Crisps
Meats: Proscuitto, salami
Nuts, fruits, veggies: Rosemary Marcona Almonds, pistachios, dried cranberries
Sweets: English toffee, almond brittle
Garnish: Fresh rosemary and flowers
Even the smallest of holiday festivities calls for some apps.
Cheesy Pesto Pizza Leftover Bread Sticks
.1. Cut leftover Garlic & Cheese Bread Sticks in half vertically
2. Spread leftover pesto sauce onto each breadstick piece
3. Cut leftover marinated mozzarella balls in half. Place four halves per piece spread out
4. Bake in oven for 10-15. Broil for an additional 2-5 minutes. Keep an eye on the pizza sticks while broiling to make sure they don't burn.
5. Let the slices cool slightly and then spread Sweet & Savory Tomato Jelly onto each piece.
6. Garnish with chopped fresh basil.
7. Serve with parmesan and red pepper flakes on the side.
Cranberry-Orange Marscapone Bites
Sweet and creamy, these cute little bites could almost be dessert.
Fancy Schmancy Hors D'oeuvres
Feel like you're at an elegant cocktail party, but with minimal effort. That's our style. Bake the frozen appetizers by following the diretions on their box. Serve on your tray with fresh green herbs and cranberries. And, you're DONE!
Our TJ frozen app recs: Pastry Bites with Feta Cheese & Carmelized Onion and Mini Brie en Croute.
Sweet Treats & Hot Cocoa
Sweeten up the holidays without turning on the oven.
Build Your Own Hot Cocoa Board
Cozy, fun, and family friendly. We won't tell Santa you added a shot of liquor to your hot cocoa.
Serve up hot cocoa mixes, warm milk, marshmellows, and your favorite TJ's sweet treats. Definitely include a variety of cookies for dunking.
Our list: sipping chocolate mix, salted caramel hot cocoa mix, whipped cream, mini marshmellows, chocolate chip dunkers, peppermint pretzel slims, cranberry-pistachio biscotti, salty honey toffee milk chocolate covered crackers, dark chocolate star cookies, candy cane Joe Joe's (TJ's version of oreos)
Optional: Kahlua and Peppermint Schnapps for spiked cocoa
Holiday Dessert Board
The Treats: chocolate chip dunkers, decked out tree cookies, candy cane Joe's Joe's, English Toffee, mini gingerbread cookies, mini peppermint meringues, dark chocolate stars, dark chocolate covered peppermint cremes, butter toffee pretzels, peppermint bark, rasperry star cookies, festive chocolate collection
The Spreads: Almond Chocolate Spread, Speculous Cookie Butter
Fill martini glasses with Candy Cane Joe Joe's Ice Cream. Top it with your favorite toppings...might we recommend peppermint bark and chocolate cookie straws (leftocver from our treat & hot cocoa boards).
Optional: fill additional martini glasses with "The Advent of the Cocktail Hour" Chocolate Truffles, featuring a variety of boozy fillings.
Mix warm milk with Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa Mix. Store-bought mix = more time to relax. Top it off with mini marshmellows and gingerbread cookie mug hangers on each mug. Include chocolate chip cookie dunkers for all the DUNKING.
Have yourself a merry little cocktail.
Boozy Wassail Punch
We saw this punch at TJ's and had no idea what it was, but it did not dissapoint.
If you're curious, according to Google: Wassail (/ˈwɒsəl/,) is a beverage of hot mulled cider, drunk traditionally as an integral part of wassailing, a Medieval Christmastide English drinking ritual intended to ensure a good cider apple harvest the following year.
Sounds complicated, but TJ's sells it ready-made and it's just begging to be turned into a festive cocktail.
Combine 1 part of preferred liquor (we recommend gin, whiskey, or vodka), 3 parts Winter Wassail Punch, and lots of ice in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
Pour into individual glasses, squeeze a fresh lemon slice into each and garnish with fresh rosemary twigs.
Pour Sparkling Cranberry-Ginger Beverage into cocktail glasses, add a shot of vodka, squeeze a lime slice into each, and garnish with fresh rosemary.
Serve Boozy Little Chocolate Truffles on the side.
And as the cocktail napkins say, Drink Up Grinches!
While we are biased for our Statement Trays, sometimes the occasion just calls for a silver platter. These Chocolate Martinis just might be that occasion.
Combine Cocoa Cream Liquor with a splash of vodka. Top with whipped cream and nutmeg.
