Mix up your at-home dinner routine this summer with an evening under the sun. Your favorite restaurant may be closed and your travel plans cancelled, but a picnic will have you feeling like you're basking in the french countryside (even if just for a few hours).
SETTING THE SCENE
A few key pieces can really make your picnic statement-worthy. Bring a large enough blanket for the food and lounging - classic gingham is our go-to. An Acrylic Serving Tray is key to create a hard surface to keep drinks and food from spilling.
The Lemons & Stripes side of our Reversible "French Countryside" Insert paired with a classic french picnic basket will make it feel like you're in the rolling hills of Bordeaux even when just around the corner from home. Fill your picnic basket (a canvas bag works as well) with disposible plates and bowls, utensils, napkins, and a few larger items for serving (ie. a wicker basket, small salad bowl, etc.)
Store-bought food can always make a statement - and that's especially true at a picnic! Pick up your favorite wraps and cut them into thirds for small bites. Toss a ready-to-go salad at the park - no prep at home required. For sides, fill a wicker basket with potato chips and a small bowl with fresh summer cherries. Round out the meal with a baguette...there's just something special about a picnic basket with filled with a bottle of wine and baguette. Your Instagram will thank us. Finish off your meal with a small cookie...or two...or three. You are celebrating a night out after all!
Bring a bottle (or two) of chilled Rosé, sparkling water, Italian sodas, and picnic-friendly glasses - stemless, plastic glasses are ideal.
A few things to make sure you add to your list: paper or cloth towels and a trash bag for clean up, sunscreen, a light jacket in case it gets chilly when the sun sets. Optional: a polaroid camera to capture all those statement-worthy moments.
Happy picnicing! How are you making a statement this summer? We can't wait to see!
